Last year we had 15 Tritt students participate in the Cobb Regional Technology Competition (CRCT). Between STEM exploration, PLTW lessons, Computer Lab lesson, ILC lessons, Technology integration lessons, tech-rich F.A.S.T. classes, and other experiences outside of the school day, our students continue to gain exposure to so many different resources and strategies to strengthen their skills as producers of technology. We are eagerly encouraging more of our students to enter CRCT this year. If your child likes to tinker with tech tools, expresses ideas creatively through the use of technology, loves video games, likes to pull things apart to see how they work, etc., suggest they participate in this years' CRCT. Your student may enter the competition with something he/she has been working on at home, or it could be something he/she has been doing in their classroom or in a club. Check out the details below, and talk to Mrs. Bates (Tritt Media Specialist), Mrs. Pascaul (Tritt Computer Lab Instructor), or Mrs. Dean (Tritt Innovation Specialist) if you have any questions.
We are excited to have visitors in our building again this year, to see STEM in action! Between your child talking about STEM at home and reading about it on your teacher's blog, I'm sure you get some great info, but actually watching our students interact collaboratively, communicate effectively, and use critical thinking skills to be creative problem solvers is just mind-blowing! We encourage you to come check out what is happening- not only in your own child's classroom- but in other classrooms across the grade level, or even in another grade level. The Showcase days provide opportunities for our students to explain what they are doing and how they work through the Engineering Design Process, as well as provide the opportunity to have parents, teachers, and administrators from other schools see what STEM really looks like at Tritt. Take pictures, take notes, talk to our students and our teachers, and enjoy and up-close-and-personal look at STEM!

We'll work on tech skills aligned with the categories from the Cobb Regional Technology Competition: 3D modeling, animation, audio production, device modification, digital game design, digital video production, graphic design, Internet applications, mobile applications, multimedia applications, robotics, productivity applications, project programming, and tech literacy challenge.
Joining our Tiger Tech Team doesn't require you to participate in the CRTC competition, but students in our club will be encouraged to enter the competition. Other out-of-school opportunities may arise as well! Students must be able to attend weekly club meetings, held on Monday mornings at 7:00 am starting September 18th. Please complete the online form by 9/18. http://bit.ly/2xb1FuV |
